This exhibition named ‘Omnia’, featured artwork across level 4 and 5 students. With a range of work from sculptures, pencil drawings and paint, the exhibit was a hit!
My work predominantly uses drawing and realism to produce portraits. I use pencil techniques to achieve realistic depictions and to enhance and capture the 'in-time' moment that is being recreated. Whilst using drawing as the focus, I have also started to incorporate colour through abstract painting as a way of representing the playfulness of childhood. In addition, I am interested in how colour impacts depictions of childhood memories. The content of the work focuses on personal remnants from childhood and the significance that these memories hold when looking at back them from the present time. This is achieved through retrieving and working with old photographs. The work intends to show childhood memories through little snippets suggesting the similar process we use when recalling the past, considering that when resurfacing memories; we either remember the majority, certain parts, or even none.
